Workshop on Cross Border Tourism & Trade Conducted at Siliguri

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 9th April, 2019: Last Sunday CII Siliguri had conducted a Workshop on Cross Border Tourism, Trade and Industry between India and Nepal at Siliguri’s Hotel Milestone. A large number of delegates across the borders of India and Nepal took part in the event. This includes Consul General, Consulate General of Nepal, Kolkata Mr. H E Eaknarayan Aryal.  He urged the dignitaries & participants to visit Nepal in order to celebrate 2020 A.D., an event organized by Government of Nepal to build significant level of relationships between both neighboring countries. Apart from this the Consul General, proposed the Airport Authority of India, Government of India, to connect Buddha Air, Nepal from Kathmandu & Biratnagar to Bagdogra which will help extend the Tourism potentials between India & Nepal. The Consul General of Nepal, Kolkata was visibly impressed with the cross section of the participants took part in the deliberations & requested CII fraternity to jointly organize programs with FNCCI, Nepal to extend the business potentials between India & Nepal. The other important dignitaries of the Workshop like Mr. Shrikumar Bandopadhyay, Inspector General (IG), SSB, Siliguri Frontier, requested to organize a Skill Development program to highlight trade & tourism between Indo – Nepal & a workshop to aware the local public against human trafficking between two neighboring countries. Mr. Subramani P, Airport Director, Airport Authority of India, Bagdogra Airport, Government of India, mentioned that Bagdogra Airport has witnessed a tremendous growth of 400% in passengers in the fiscal year of 2018. He also informed that the Government of West Bengal has approved for building a Cargo tunnel & a new integrated tunnel with multi-level facilities at the Bagdogra airport, he added. Bagdogra Airport Director, Mr. Subramani P, requested CII to start an initiative for international aircraft facilities from Bagdogra to Kathmandu. The delegation of the Consulate General of Nepal, Kolkata officials met with the industrial representatives coming from all over 8 districts of North Bengal, Kolkata including delegations from neighboring country & state of Nepal & Sikkim. In the panel discussion there were important speakers in the likes of Mr. Bishwa Prasad Paneru, Consul, Consulate General of Nepal, Kolkata, Mr Badari Raj Dhungana, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism & Industries, Nepal, Prof. Sanchari Roy Mukherjee, Professor, Economics Department & Dean, PG Faculty Council of Arts, Commerce & Law, University of North Bengal, Mr Anand K Agarwala, Chairman, CII North Bengal Zonal Council & Director, Chuniajhora Tea Co Ltd, Mr Prabir Seal, Past Chairman, CII North Bengal Zonal Council & Director, Seal Tea & Co, Mr Sanjit Saha, Vice Chairman, CII North Bengal Zonal Council & Partner, Sonai Furniture & Mr Raj Basu, CII Tourism Panel Chair, North Bengal Zonal Council & Director, Help Tourism etc.
