15 INFANTS DIE IN TWO DAYS AT NORTH BENGAL MEDICAL COLLEGE

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 23rd April 2014: At least Fifteen newborn babies have died at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMC&H) here at Siliguri from the last Monday. NBMC&H authorities admitted to the deaths in the hospital today. Briefing to the press the Hospital Superintendent Dr. Amarendra Nath Sarker informed that the cause of the deaths occurred due to thelLow weight during birth, infection and some other reason. Though he said that the deaths were unfortunate, however, questions are raised by the people and the opposition political parties about finding out the real reasons behind the deaths of so many infants in just two days. Dr. Sarker said. “Around 100-150 babies were admitted daily in critical condition,” he said. The MIC – NBDD Mr. Goutam Deb said that proper investigation will be carried out to find out the real reasons for such incident.
