Prof. Rathin Bandyopadhyay Chosen for Shiksha Ratna Award from West Bengal Government

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 5th September, 2020: Every year Teacher’s Day marks the day when the eminent personalities from the academics are felicitated by the Government of West Bengal. Currently, this is the time of COVID -19. However, this time also the process is not halted. Department of Education and Higher Education under Government of West Bengal has conferred the Shiksha Ratna awards of the year 2020 to various teachers and professors of schools and colleges throughout the state. Among awardees is Professor Dr. Rathin Bandyopadhyay from the Department of Law, University of North Bengal. The news was declared by a statement to the press by the University of North Bengal today. Along with Professor Bandyopadhyay the other recipient from the same University is Professor Kantilal Das, from the Department of Philosophy.
The Registrar of the University Dr. Dilip Kumar Sarkar in the official announcement said that the University of North Bengal feels proud of the recipient awardees from the University to get the coveted Siksha Ratna 2020 for their lifetime contribution to the respective fields of knowledge. TNI contacted Dr. Rathin Bandyopadhyay about his feelings after getting the news. He informed that “Its of immense pleasure of hearing the news from the Higher Education Department. Tomorrow on the occasion of the ‘Teachers’ Day’ the award is going to be conferred by the Honorable Chief Minister at ‘Uttar Kanya’ in a virtual ceremony in presence of the District Magistrate’. He also informed that ‘Being a teacher of Law the responsibility also increases to move ahead with the motto of spreading the legal education in North Bengal to new heights. I always believe in team efforts and the team with me never misses out on the targets to be achieved. I feel that more quality Legal education need to be increased throughout North Bengal though in the years gone, some steps has been taken. However, I feel more needs to be done. I also further want to thank the Chief Minister of the State, the Education Minister, the Vice Chancellor of the University, the previous Vice Chancellors of the University, the Registrar of the University, my colleagues and my students who have helped me to take the mission of building the quality education paradigm of Legal education here in North Bengal”.
