Siliguri Tax Advocates Bar Association’s Rally for Demand of Social Security to Lawyers

Webdesk, TNI Sikkim, 13th February, 2019: There was a rally organized by Siliguri Tax Advocates Bar Association (STABA) yesterday at Siliguri. Many Tax lawyer members participated in the rally, that started from Siliguri Court and after traversing a distance, it reached the Sub Divisional Office of Siliguri. The members later submitted a memorandum to the SDO Office that included the demands put forth by the lawyers of all the bar association of the country. The demands included in the memorandum are providing of chambers to the lawyers by the Bar Council of India, Adequate Building facilities, sitting facilities with well equipped Libraries, e-Libraries, Internet facilities, toilet, and separate toilets for lady advocates. Apart from the above the STABA supported the demand of the Bar Council of India of providing budgetary allocation of minimum Rs. 5000 crores for lawyers, Insurance cover of upto Rs. 20 Lakhs for lawyers and their families (dependents), stipend for needy new entrants at the Bar up to five year of their practice (minimum of Rs. 10000 per month), Financial protection of the lawyers and dependents, housing schemes, pension schemes etc. In this connection TNI talked with advocate Mr. Subrata Bose, a member of STABA for getting his reactions. He informed TNI “On the call of Bar Council of India (BCI), all state bar council, high court bar associations the lawyers throughout the country held a massive protest rally all over India. According to me Lawyers should provide basic facilities like insurance, pension, medical facilities etc. So, that we can serve our duties towards social justice without getting tension for our family s financial securities”.
