Webdesk, TNI Dhupguri, 1st January, 2018: A dangerous fire burnt away a portion of the Regulated Market of Dhupguri. The estimated amount of damage is around 10 lakhs that included vegetable shops and godowns. According to the local sources, the fire was seen around 12 am on the eve of New Year night.
The firefighters were called immediately. Two engines doused the flames after 2 hours of firefighting. The shopkeepers alleged that their shops did not have any sort of electrical connection so there is no question of a short circuit. Instead, they blamed the local hooligans and possible chance of sabotage. The Vice Chairman of Dhupguri Municipality reached the spot and said necessary action will be taken after proper investigation of the incident.
