Kshanik Sangha’s Khunti Puja Heralds Durga’s Timeless Homecoming in Siliguri

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 31st August, 2026: With the arrival of the autumnal breeze and the rhythmic thunder of dhak, Siliguri’s Bharatnagarian Cultural emotion once again awakened at the lush green Kshanik Sangha Ground in South Bharat Nagar. Durga Puja here is not merely a festival; it is a living emotion that binds generations through devotion, memories, traditions, and community spirit.

On 30 August 2026 at 11:00 AM, Kshanik Sangha began its Khunti Puja for this year’s Durga Puja celebration. The occasion witnessed the presence of senior and junior members, their families, residents, Women of Para, and enthusiastic children who filled the ground with joy.

Following age-old Bengali traditions and time-honoured rituals, the senior purohit performed the rituals with sacred mantras and traditional customs. The Khunti was erected after the purohit spread holy water and chanted divine prayers. According to Sanatani beliefs, touching the Khunti while it is being erected is considered an auspicious and divine gesture. Everyone present participated in this spiritual moment before receiving prasad with devotion.

This year’s theme, “Ray er lens e Dugga elo,” has created curiosity among the people. Joint Secretary Mr. Abhirup Ghosh revealed the theme but chose not to disclose the identity of the person referred to as “Ray,” keeping the artistic mystery alive.

Joint Secretary Mr. Partha Paul invited people from Siliguri and North Bengal to experience the 57th Year of Durga Puja celebration of Kshanik Sangha, South Bharat Nagar. Secretary Bunty Dutta informed that Kshanik Sangha will continue its tradition of distributing clothes among the needy during Durga Puja. Bhog Bitaran will also be organised on Mahashtami.

Amid the old world charm of Bonedi Families of South Bharat Nagar and youthful energy of children, Kshanik Sangha continues to preserve Siliguri’s cultural heartbeat. This celebration reflects Bengal’s timeless devotion, where every ritual becomes a memory and every gathering becomes a celebration of togetherness.
