Tufanganj Reeling under Flood Due to Heavy Incessant Rains [VIDEO]

Webdesk, TNI Tufanganj, 12th August 2017: Coochbehar gets flooded due to incessant rains during the last 72 hours. All the areas of Coochbehar town, as well as the districts, are presently under water. Areas like Takagach, Karishal, Madhupur, Kaljani, Raidak etc. are inundated with fresh lashing of rains and flooding of the rivers like Torsa, Kaljani, Raidak. The slush gates i.e. Gate No. 16 and 15 were opened when the water crossed the Red Mark for precautionary measures. At Tufanganj Subdivision today a boy of 19 years died while he was crossing Kaljani river in his country made a boat with his cattle. Suddenly, it came under strong current and drowned the boy. The people of entire Sareyar Paar village have lost their houses due to flood and are now in homeless condition. The Assam – Tufanganj bus route is totally cut off due to water on NH 31. The NBDD Minister Mr. Rabindranath Ghosh visited the areas of Tufanganj Flood areas. He admitted that the condition of Coochbehar district including all the 12 blocks is very grim. If the rains continue the situation will go worse. People have taken shelter in various relief camps. Further, the BOP and BSF jawans have come for help Providence to the flood affected people. Mr. Ghosh also said that the CM had taken all information through him about the flood situation.
