Demand of Mujhnai Bridge Rises, As Bamboo Footbridge Gets Washed Away at Falakata [VIDEO]

Webdesk, TNI Deogaon, 8th June, 2017: In a sudden increase of the water at Mujhnai River at Falakata a bamboo footbridge. Local people used to cross the river on the footbridge at ‘Niyasa Ghat’ also known as Sadhaner Ghat named after the late owner Mr. Sadhan Das. It was a major connecting bridge between Jateswar and Deogaon. In a routine practice, the footbridge is temporary which is dismantled every year before the monsoon. However, today due to the sudden rise in the water due to heavy rains the footbridge got washed away.

Now the daily commuters of the surrounding areas are facing a lot of problems in crossing the river as they are now dependent on Boat. The demand of a concrete bridge was always the demand of the locals but the administration had taken no visible action till date. One of the daily commuters Mr. Manik Hembrom told TNI that they have contacted several times with the concerned authority for making a Concrete Bridge on the River as it is a busy route for small businessmen, students, and farmers but till date, no step has been taken towards making the bridge.
