Webdesk, TNI Kolkata, 15th February 2017: A mob of more than 150 men was reportedly ransacked the CMRI Hospital located at the most infamous Ekbalpore area of Kolkata today morning. It has been alleged that there was gross negligence on the part of the hospital for treating a girl from Khiddirpore. Today her relatives were informed that the girl has expired in the OT due to cardiac failure, while the doctors were preparing for surgery. The girl’s family alleged that the hospital authority had pressurized the family member to deposit an amount of Rs. 1.5 for the emergency operation otherwise the operation would not be performed.
The family members wanted time to deposit the rest of the amount. They also said that the delay in the operation had led to the death of the girl. In the morning a mob of more than hundred men went inside the hospital and ransacked the reception, broke glass panes, computers, billing office etc. They also beat up the security officials of the hospital in the process. Later the mob blocked the Diamond Harbour Road at Ekbalpore crossing during the rush hours. Police sprang into action as a large contingent of police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. A police picket was also deployed in the hospital to prevent further vandalism.
