SILIGURI GOES WITHOUT WATER WITHOUT NOTICE: RESIDENTS FUME

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 09^th September, 2016: For the last couple of days there are heavy to moderate rains happening in Siliguri and the adjacent areas. Every night becomes a very relaxing night for the Siligurians with a good night’s sleep while it’s raining outside. However, the morning becomes a nightmare when the Siligurians see dry water taps, courtesy sudden stoppage of water by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Initially, the residents thought it was just a routine stoppage of supply due to maintenance work but the misconception soon vanished when there was no resumption of supply for continuous 3 days. Along with this, the stoppage happened without any notice to the residents by miking services. Getting no reply from the SMC the residents resorted to buying water from the market. The MIC – Water Supply told TNI that the supply may resume tomorrow however he didn’t give any strong confirmation on that. According to him, the problem of supply stoppage is due to the construction of Asian Highway. Apart from this P.H.E is now replacing the old underwater pipes with new ones. Moreover, the diversion of the pipeline is also going on underneath because of the excavation of AH-2.
