CHENNAI EXPRESS DERAILS AT SILIGURI’S MAHABIRSTAN

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 09th September, 2016: A major rail accident got averted miraculously at Siliguri’s Mahabirstan today evening at around 9:45 pm. The Chennai – NJP express (22612) was in very slow speed, which might be the reason for no major damage after the derailment. The engine of the train is actually derailed from the line. Due to the puja shopping rush the gathering of people was there in the spot. It took moments while the people rushed to the spot to see the accident. Though the passengers were safe but the engine travelled at least 8-10 metres without rails after derailment. The road near the railgate and under the flyover got blocked due to inflow of the people for viewing. Railway officials reached the spot and the rest of the bogies were taken back to NJP till last reports came in.
