PROF. GAUTAM BHADRA DELIVERS SPECIAL LECTURES AT BANKURA UNIVERSITY

Webdesk, TNI Bankura, 24th July, 2016: Eminent Historian Professor Gautam Bhadra recently (20-21 July, 2016) came to the Department of Political Science, Bankura University to render a special lecture on “Making of Prison Notebooks: An Evaluation of Gramsci’s Ideas”. The programme was attended by the teachers, research scholars, and students of the university. Not only are those teachers from various colleges of Bankura and Burdwan districts also attended. Gramsci’s (1891-1937) concept of Hegemony, subaltern, his relation with the contemporary communist world, almost every aspect of Gramsci’s life was sketched by Professor Bhadra. A man who wrote essays staying at the prison (later these writings were published as “Prison Notebooks”) and using code names because of Mussolini’s police is uncovered by Professor Gautam Bhadra.
