JALPAIGURI BECOMES THE SECOND DISTRICT IN THE STATE TO BAN SMOKING

Webdesk, TNI Jalpaiguri 6th June, 2016: From 1st July 2016, Jalpaiguri is going to become the second district which is prohibiting smoking in public and open spaces. Today in a meeting at the DM’s office, the district administration has officially informed the press. The meeting was attended by various officials from various departments of Jalpaiguri. It is said that if the prohibition is not followed then the rule breaker will be fined monetarily. The matter will be announced publicly also. The District CMOH Dr. Prakash Mridha said that the date 1st July was taken to pay homage on the birthday of the first Chief Minister of Wes Bengal Dr. Bidhan Ch Roy with this noble cause. 3 weeks time is been earmarked to promote the message to the people of the district. The campaign will be in places like School, College, Offices, Market areas etc. In the state Dakshin Dinajpur district was the first district in the state to take such step in this regard. Now Jalpaiguri became the second.
