SILCHAR FLOOD SITUATION GRIM IN ASSAM

Webdesk, TNI Silchar 21st May, 2016: After the continuous rains for the past few days the water level of Barak river is yet to decline. The areas like Ghaniwala, greater Malugram and Itkhola are continuing to be in submerged condition from the last Thursday. The sluice gates of the dam have leaked water which has led to flood like situation in Silchar. Water has entered in many households and shopping establishments. Latest reports suggest that areas like Rongpur Part I, Nutun Dayapur, Badripar Bagpur and Niyaergram are under water. There is a ray of hope because according to the sources of the Department of Water Resources, there is a slight decline of the water level in the Barak river and there is no prediction of more downpour.
