RESCUED 3 MONTH ELEPHANT CALF SENT TO JALDAPARA NATIONAL PARK
By Atish Sen (TNI Banarhat) ~ By Pradiptamay Saha (TNI Siliguri)
Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 12th November, 2015: The captured 3-month-old elephant calf ultimately could not cope with the herd so it was transferred to Jaldapara National Park. Earlier it was rescued from a water body of Binnaguri Army camp. The forest worker thought that it will return to her mother in the herd but after quite sometimes, they found that it could not reach to her mother. Further, the calf is only 3-month-old and is now feeding only on milk; the foresters could not wait for long to keep the calf unattended. They again recovered the calf and sent in for medical examination. After a medical examination, when no major discrepancy was found the forest department decided to send the calf to Jaldapara National Park authorities for further treating the calf with much care.
