DIVINE LIGHTS IN RAIGANJ THIS DIPAWALI
By Partha Chatterjee (TNI Raiganj) ~ Edited By R. Subrata (TNI Siliguri)
Webdesk, TNI Raiganj, 08th November, 2015: After the administrative crackdown on the use of sound crackers officially. The market is now flooded with fireworks. In tune with the rest of the country this year too Raiganj is now witnessing various types of Sky Lanterns (Fanush). These are ready made Sky Lanterns where the users have to light the candle in the igniter situated at the bottom of this giant paper balloon. Though, this is not new in case of North Bengal. Siliguri is witnessing this product for the last 5 years but for the people of the rural Uttar Dinajpur, this time it has become a rage.
A firework retailer of Raiganj told TNI that “For the last two years due to the ban of sound crackers the market is now selling only fireworks like fountains, color sparklers, ground spinners etc. This time the craze is for sky lanterns. Most of the sky lanterns are sold in the price range of Rs. 25/- to Rs. 30/-.” The Chinese-made lanterns are of high demand. Now people are going to witness a divinely litted Raiganj skyline in Dipawali. Thanks to the sky lanterns in Raiganj.
