BANDH IS TOTALLY DISRUPTIVE AND UNCALLED FOR: CII
By Rita Das (TNI Siliguri) ~ Edited D. Prasun (TNI Siliguri)
Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 2nd September, 2015: CII termed the one-day nationwide strike, called by 10 Trade Unions today, as upsetting and unnecessary. This has been expressed through a press statement from CII North Bengal Zonal Council, Siliguri Though the impact throughout was partial, the real concern expressed by CII is about the tarnishing picture of India as an attractive investment hotspot for the foreign investors. CII further expressed that such things are unaffordable for the Indian economy to ensure growth. “We, in CII, earnestly appeal to Trade Unions to resolve all pending issues through dialogue and discussion,” said Mr. Sumit Mazumder, President, CII. The CII release further said that CII strongly believes that labor law reforms are crucial and important for creating a conducive environment for investments and employment generation. Mr. Mazumder said that “The current Government has performed well on economic parameters and given the prevailing constraints; it is still trying to do its best. For every problem an amicable solution can be reached through mutual discussions but resorting to such means like strike/bandh will be detrimental to the growth of the economy, particularly when the country is facing the heat of global economic turbulence”.
