JALPAIGURI FEARING 1968 TYPE FLOOD DUE TO CONTINUOUS RAINS

Webdesk, TNI Jalpaiguri, 30th August, 2015: Various areas of Jalpaiguri town have been flooded over constant rainfall since 2 days. The rivers like Tista, Torsa, Kaljani and Jaldhaka is flowing over the danger mark. The connecting road built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna between Domohoni and Kranti has been washed off due to the consistent rainfall and the water from the Tista River entering the area. The residents of Jalpaiguri town are facing the wrath reminding the fears of 1968 Jalpaiguri Floods. Water has entered the homes of many residents especially living in lowers areas of Jalpaiguri Municipality. The limited drainage system has created the stagnancy of water which is creating tensions in the affected areas of Jalpaiguri town.
