Webdesk, TNI Kalimpong, 30th August, 2015: In order to encourage and felicitate the teachers and educational institutions for their hard work, Chlorophyll in association with Minervaa organised an educational award in Park hotel here. More than 11 schools were awarded in different categories like best principal, best WBBSE School, best ICSE school etc. When Pranami BalikaVidya Mandir received the award for best WBBSE School in kalimpong, Dr. Graham’s Homes received the award for best ICSE School, similarly B.K Bhamdari the Principal of Kamal Jyoti Vidhya Peeth was felicitated with the best male principal award and Mrs. Sabrina Sodemba from Mount Carmel was awarded as the best female principal. The heads from different schools were also present in the award ceremony and most of them received the certificate of appreciation. Chlorophyll in the other hand is a newly formed NGO who works to encourage the educational institutions, ‘We are united for a cause and that is to bring a change in the society’ said Subhankar Shivakothi the president of the organisation adding that youths from different professional background have come together to bring a social revolution. Meanwhile, Utpal Mishra, the Additional District Judge who was the chief guest of the program appreciated the work of teachers, addressing the people present there, he said, ‘teachers are responsible for brightening the student’s future, they are the ones to motivate the students to do better in life so a token of appreciation would definitely encourage them.’ However, the Band ‘Agyaat’ who just released their official music video ‘Thulo Sapana’ on Saturday was also there to perform few songs and they didn’t fail to mesmerize the people as everyone were tapping their feet in approval. Clarifying the educational award which Minervaa had given away in Siliguri on 22nd August, Saurav Sharma, the secretary of  the chlorophyll later said, ‘Minervaa had already organised the ‘Edu-Achievement Award’ on 22nd August in Siliguri but the nominated schools from Kalimpong could not turn up, so we thought of re-organising an Edu-Award here.’ It was known that more than 150 schools had appeared in the last edu-award hosted by Minervaa in Siliguri where St. Philomena’s School was awarded as the best girl’s school in North Bengal. Before wrapping up the event, the members of Chlorophyll informed this correspondent that the organisation will come up with other exciting ventures soon.
