ROAD BLOCKADE FOR PROTESTING GRPF ARREST AT KOLKATA’S SEALDAH RAILWAY STATION

Webdesk, TNI Kolkata, 4th August, 2015: On 2nd August, GRPF intercepted a group of students, comprising about 63 teenagers, who were coming from Purnia, Bihar by Katihar Express and were supposed to catch a train from Howrah for Pune, Maharastra. The GRPF caught them in i.e around 20 students in the group did not have valid documents with them. Later the group was held up at a home at Barasat while the authorities were trying to communicate with their respective parents. According to the students, some parents were already on their way to Kolkata. However, according to the reports students from a local religious institution and some common people staged a road block in front of the main road of Sealdah Railway station from 2:30 PM in protest of the interception by the GRPF. The blockade is still on and whole North Kolkata has collapsed. Police have reached the blockade spot for pacifying the situation.
