ARMY STARTED RESCUE WORKS IN BARDHAMAN

Webdesk, TNI Kolkata, 03rd August, 2015: Finally West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked for the army to combat against the flood situation. The administration has sought help from the army for the rescue operation at Bardhaman. Cyclone Komen has flooded 12 districts of West Bengal and total death count has crossed 48. In this context, it was necessary to call the army to tackle the situation. Yesterday army jawans from Panagarh camp started rescue operation in Jhaudanga, Purbasthali Block Number 2 of Bardhaman district. District Magistrate of Bardhaman, Mr. Soumitra Mohan informed that already 450 villagers of Jhaudanga has been rescued and around 150 are still stuck. According to Nabanna, altogether around 36 lakhs, people have been affected by the flood in 12 districts, 40thousands house has collapsed whereas 2 lakhs house have been affected partially. The death count for cattle’s is around 5 thousand. Presently 121 boats are working in the rescue operation. So far 1,537 relief centers and 204 medical camps have been opened.
