LANDSLIDE CUTS KALIMPONG-CHITREY ROAD LINK

TNI News Service (TNS)

Webdesk, TNI Kalimpong, 15th July, 2015: Just after few days of deadly landslides in Darjeeling, last night’s heavy rainfall has again resulted in a landslide at 6th Mile, Kalimpong.  The Kalimpong-Chitrey road had been affected on 30th of last month because of the severe landslide and the road was being repaired. However last night’s rainfall has again snapped the road completely. The report says a house has been damaged also. However, till now there is no report of death. Traffic movement has been interrupted largely as all the vehicle towards Siliguri is now taking the Lava route while Mungpo route is being taken for Darjeeling and Sikkim. It will take at least 3-4 more days to find out at least a temporary solution. And that is too subject to rainfall.
