Mekhliganj Administration Conducts Damage Control Measures for Controlling Forces Against Illegal Liquor [VIDEO]

Webdesk, TNI Mekhliganj, 25th August, 2017: Mekhliganj came to a standstill after there were protests by the Women force for the last 2 days. Soon after hearing the news the administration took to damage control measures. A meeting was called between Mekhliganj Police, BDO and Coochbehar Excise Department and all the NGOs behind the Women Force was called. The recovered liquor and related items were handed over to the Excise department by the Women Force. The BDO instructed the women force not to take the law into their own hands instead hand over the culprits to the police or the excise department. Though, the BDO Mr. Birupakkha Mitra didn’t forget to thank the spirit of the women force for coming together against this social evil. On the other hand, the officials of the excise department and also the Jamaldaha Panchayat expressed their deficiencies of controlling the illegal liquor trade in this place.
