Civic Volunteer Attacked in an Anti Liquor Drive at Dhupguri

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 13th July, 2017: The police team today was attacked by some miscreants (expected to be men from the illegal country liquor racket) at Dhupguri yesterday. In a secret tip-off yesterday the Dhupguri police along with some civic volunteers raided the Budhbazar Haat area at Dhupguri to nab the racket involved in the illegal country liquor trade here. In this raid, many country liquors were seized.

When the police team was about to leave the spot, some miscreants attacked them from behind. The seized liquor was also snatched from them. A civic volunteer Mr. Kaushik Roy was injured in the attack. He was injured in the head. However, the kingpins were missing from the spot. The injured civic volunteer was initially brought to Dhupguri Hospital but since the injury was serious, he was referred to Jalpaiguri District Hospital.
