It has created speculation of the total wash away of the crematorium completely here in Matikunda. This is the only Hindu crematorium in this entire vast area. According to the local people, the mawas were several times reported to the administration but to no avail. This ghat was created on 2008 under the MP scheme for Rs. 6.5 lakhs by the prior MP of Raiganj Smt. Deepa Das Munshi. The local people fear that if no measures are taken, then the thing main crematorium room will be in the river. One the other hand, the Block BDO of Islampur Mr. Raju Mandal expressed unawareness about the same.
