Webdesk, TNI Raiganj, 4th June, 2017: The Kulik River, which is flowing through the Asia’s biggest Bird Sanctuary is in danger of its existence. The lifeline of Raiganj i.e. Kulik River has got many blank assurances through various political and apolitical organization about their intention to revive the glory of River Kulik. Today some members of various Nature Lover organizations made a visit to see the current condition of the Kulik River.
Mr. Tuhin Subhra Mandal told TNI that “Once, this river was used as a waterway transport to Bangladesh. However, now due to siltation, the depth of the river has decreased drastically. A major Masterplan is highly required for Kulik River to bring back its past glory and also to save Raiganj”. He also said that their organization will submit a report to the District Magistrate about the situation. Possibly that might be sent to the Chief Minister also. Later a rally was also organized with a message to save Kulik River by Raiganj’s Jagori Theatre Group.
