Rally Organized at Falakata to Prevent Shop Eviction for NH 31 Extension

Webdesk, TNI Falakata 24th May, 2017: A road rally was organized today at Falakata by the NH 31 Byabshayi Sammannoy Oikyo. After the rally, the participants submitted a memorandum to the BDO of Falakata. The proposal from the Government related to the extension of the NH 31 as follows: The main road will be 40 ft wide, and then on two sides of the road there will be guard wall. Then adjacent to the wall there will be approach road of 5.4 meters wide. , ext there would be 1.5 metre wide high drain. Next there would be some land for electric pole, water pipes etc. In such a proposal it would require at least 50 ft wide extra land from the two sides each of the current road. If the proposal continues in its present form the shops and establishments on two sides of the NH 31 will have to be removed completely. The deputation of the businessmen was to let them have some land for their present shops. Other demands in the deputation are like not to evict the businessmen completely, divider to be made in the new road, construction of a bus terminus at Falakata, declaring Falakata as a subdivision. Mr. Sukumar Saha on behalf of the NH 31 Byabshayi Sammannoy Oikyo said that the businessmen wants development but without eviction. The BDO of Falakata Smt. Smriti Subba said “We don’t want to evict the businessmen. I will try to arrange an inspection along with them and the concerned officials and then come to certain conclusion along with the businessmen”.
