Webdesk, TNI Falakata 18th May, 2017: Kashiabari haat of East Deogaon under Falakata Block is being captured by illegal land mafias. This is being alleged by the local villagers. The haat land belongs to the Government. A localite named Md. Abdul Aziz told TNI that he had last got the lease of the haat through auction. However, now the haat is being taken over by some land mafias. Illegal houses, cowsheds, and other things are now seen in the area instead of shops. The haat has lost its vigor. Many local businessmen, farmers, and other craft artists were dependent on the haat, but not anymore. However, according to the local political leaders, the haat land should be used for some community services like health center, water treatment plant or something else. Interestingly the gram panchayat members were seemingly surprised to know the land is a government owned land. Falakata Panchayat Samiti chairman Smt. Sandhya Biswas said that steps would be taken for recovering the land and later it will be used for the betterment of the people.
