Modern day Rava Folkart Torchbearer Gonat Rava to Receive ‘Banga Bhushan’ Award

Webdesk, TNI Dhupguri 14th May, 2017: Gonat Rava was felicitated with Bongo Bushan award for reestablishing the culture of Rava tribe through its folk art. The news spread like a storm at the Gossaihaat Bonochaya village under Dhupguri block today on Sunday morning. The award will physically be provided to him on 20th May 2017 at Kolkata’s Nazrul Manch.
Mr. Rava has started his work on the folk art from 1990 by the inspiration of the then District Information and cultural officer of Jalpaiguri district. In his family, Mr. Gonat Rava has his wife, son, daughter in law and the grandchildren. The main profession of his is agriculture. However, he is satisfied to tell that now the Rava culture is being maintained by many youngsters by forming various cultural groups.
