Webdesk, TNI Islamapur 10th May, 2017: Islampur Sports Development Committee (ISDC) is going to organize a strong movement in support of the demand of a proper sports complex. In the earlier days, a local club named Milanpally Eleven Star club had a similar demand. Later Islampur Sub Divisional Sports Association also took the movement in a news way but sometime later the movement became stalled for a while. It was just limited to a WhatsApp group called Islampur Sports Development Committee. After many assurances from the ministers, MLAs, and MPs nothing happened. Now again the committee is taking the initiative and have formed a comprehensive committee with 29 office bearers. Mr. Dipankar Dey became the secretary, Mr. Subhajit Roy Choudhury became the Assistant Secretary, and Mr. Nilkamal Das was declared the President of the committee.
It is important to know that there are only two grounds for sporting activities in Islampur one is the Islampur High School ground and another is the Islampur Court ground. In both the cases activities like Political events, Fairs, Administrative Events, Religious festivals are taking place throughout the year. On the other hand, a stadium is being proposed far away from the town yet it is yet to be completed. In such a situation it can be said that Islampur Sports Development Committee may take some positive step forward. The newly nominated President of ISDC Mr. Nilkamal Das told TNI “Currently in Islampur an environment of Sports is developed. ISDC has planned to highlight the demand of sporting ground in the town in a much more befitting manner”.
