The small town is engulfed within the ill effects of the tournament. It’s nothing but the Cricket Betting mafia has come up again. The effects of the betting in not only concentrated with the game but also beyond leading to snatching, dacoity, theft etc in an around the town. This is not a present year scenario but an annual affair during this time when the IPL is around. Last week a snatching incident happened but the police is yet to book the culprits. Secret sources of the bookies its learned that the total transaction valuation of the IPL Cricketing betting is around 1.5 crore rupees. Last year the IPL Betting mastermind from Siliguri was nabbed by the police. In such a circumstance the scene is much more reserved and cautious. The Nepal mobile sim cards are used according to some unconfirmed sources and are being destroyed after 1-2 transactions. The SDPO of Islampur Mr. Kumar Bhushan Singh said that such a hike in the Betting transaction is really very disturbing. However, a strong vigil is being kept in this regard.
