Webdesk, TNI Nilkuthi, 7th May, 2017: The state government told High court on last Friday that there are no male workers in “Sahid Vandana Smriti Mahila Awash’ at Nilkuthi, Coochbehar. In a hearing of public interest litigation on Friday at the Division bench of the High Court Chief Justice (acting) Nishita Mhatre, the state government counsel Mr. Amitesh Bandyopadhyay told the court about the Government’s standing on male attendants at the Women’s home. Last year there was an allegation of rape on a teenage girl at the Government Women’s Home. The Calcutta High Court already had expressed concerns about the safety of the inhabitants of the home. The petitioner Mr. Tapash Bhanja said that 9 posts are still vacant in the home. The prosecutor further told that a case is going on against the male worker against whom the rape has been charged. The victim has been transferred to the Jalpaiguri Home i.e. ‘Feelings’.
