Webdesk, TNI Islampur, 25th April, 2017: Controversy is not leaving the recently concluded SDSA conducted Islampur Night Football Tournament. Upasham Medical team run by the Medicine distributors association of Islampur was appointed as the official medical team by SDSA of Islampur. All the days of the tournament, Upasham was involved in its service as a medical team along with Dr. Samaresh Seal. In the friendly match between the all-women teams, Upasham have appointed a lady doctor and two women medical attendant for the match. However, there were no thanks given to the valued services given by Upasham during the prize distribution ceremony.
Though Upasham authorities have never sought any media or promotion attention, but it is the spectators who have raised questions privately about the incident. Mr. Susanta Bakshi, a 60 year old retd government service holder and a regular spectator of the tournament told TNI “All these days I have seen the volunteers jumping with their medical team for any injury in the matches, however, it’s unfortunate on the part of the organizers not to show any sort of verbal gratitude to the volunteers and Upasham team”. Similar views expressed by many other viewers of the final match too. On the other hand, when contacted Upasham, the authorities told TNI that they are least bothered about such things. They love to continue their social services as before and Upasham feels honored to be a part of such an extravaganza.
