Sudden Civil Unrest at Siliguri’s Venus More, Senior Journalists Severely Beaten [VIDEO]

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 14th April, 2017: A sudden riot like situation emerged at Siliguri’s Venus more area after some hooligans from a rally in protest against the theft of human bodies and skulls from a burial ground at Fulbari area yesterday. The rally was moving peacefully suddenly when the rally reached Venus more it became violent. The rally participants blocked the road. The police under the leadership of DCP traffic Mr. Sunil Kumar Yadav tried to pacify the mob but all of sudden some men from the rally came out and started pelting stones at the nearby shops of the areas i.e. Venus more, Alupatty etc.
The terrified shopkeepers, customers, pedestrians, auto rickshawalas started running here and there. Police put up barricades all-around but by then terror grasped in the minds of the people. Some rioters even caught the journalists, who were covering the incident and beat them up mercilessly. Their service cameras were snatched and broken. Among the injured journalist were the noted and awarded senior Journalist Mr. Ravi Bhattacharya, Mr. Tinku Sabrewal, and Mr. Sanjib Sutradhar. Mr. Ravi Bhattacharya is now admitted at Siliguri Hospital.
