Balurghat Airport to be Functional from April 2017, Sources

Webdesk, TNI Falakata, 26th March, 2017: Construction works of Balurghat Airport is almost at the last stages. The airport is going to be handed over to the Government of West Bengal very soon. Sources from the District Administration the airport will become functional from the next month i.e. April 2017. However, the dates are yet to be finalized. The runway works of the airport are almost over. It is being constructed by Mackintosh Burn Ltd. The 400 mts runway has now been extended to 1500 mts.

This will enable the 50 seater aircraft to fly from Balurghat Airport. Sources say that a MOU has already being signed between the State Government and private airline companies like Zoom Air and Indigo. Henceforth, there will be regular flights between Bagdogra, Coochbehar and Kolkata Airports. With the completion of the works, the long demand of the people of Dakshin Dinajpur is on its verge to become reality. The business community and the doctors of the district are very much happy with the outcome.
