Annual General Meeting of DBITA Held at Binnaguri Today

Webdesk, TNI Binnaguri, 10th March, 2017: On Friday at the Binnaguri Central Dooars Club the Dooars Branch India Tea Association conducted their 139th Annual General Meeting. In the meeting, the main focus was the issues facing the tea industry in connection with the demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes in the country. Apart from this other topic discussed were the closed tea garden, increasing of cost for tea production, women & child trafficking in the tea belt, clashes between wild animals with the tea garden workers etc. In the meeting, the people present were the chairman of DBITA Mr. Sanjay Kumar Ghai, secretary of DBITA Mr. Sumanta Guha Thakurata, Addl Chairperson of ITA Mr. Nayantara Pal Choudhury, Addl Secretary of ITA Mr. Debasish Chakraborty, Addl Labour Commissioner of the Department of Labour, GOWB Mr. Pashupati Ghosh and others. In this occasion the Secretary of DBITA Mr. Sumanta Guha Thakurata said that various steps have been taken to reduce the Human-Wild Animal Clashes in the Tea Garden, to reduce the losses due to flood in the rainy season. Mr. Pasupath Ghosh informed that there is a tripartite meeting between the State Government. Tea Garden owners and the Labour Unions for resolving the labor wage-related problems.
