Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 3rd March, 2017: A Siliguri cricketer today allegedly rebuked and threatened to kill an umpire officiating a cricket league match in Siliguri. Currently, the super division league match is going on at Siliguri Chandmuni Cricket Ground between YMA and Siliguri Sporting Union. The cricketer named Subhankar Kundu was batting on the crease. The match officiating umpires were Mr. Asit Mukherjee and Mr. Sukanta Chakraborty. In an appeal for runout, Subhankar Kundu was given run out by Umpire Sukanta Chakraborty. Kundu started protesting against the decision. The two umpires then instructed to leave the field. However, Kundu allegedly threatened Umpire Sukanta Chakraborty with dire consequences. This created tension in the match. However, after the match, both the umpires have filed a complaint to SMKP. The secretary of Siliguri Referees and Umpires association Mr. Parimal Bhowmik said that such incident is creating a negative atmosphere in the cricketing spirit of Siliguri. SMKP secretary Mr. Arup Ratan Ghosh informed the press that SMKP will take up the matter and action will be taken based on the investigation.
