UPCOMING ELECTION SECURITY MEETING HELD AT COOCHBEHAR TODAY

Webdesk, TNI Coochbehar, 21st October, 2016: Today an Inter-District and Inter-State meeting was called in the Coochbehar Circuit House in connection with the law and order situation related to the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election in Coochbehar Constituency. Apart from the Coochbehar district administration, officers from Alipurduar district administration, Jalpaiguri, Assam’s Dhubri District and Kokrajhar Districts were also present. Representatives from BSF, Department of Railways, and Department of Central Excise were also present in the meeting. In a press briefing after the meeting, the District Magistrate Mr. P. Ulganathan said that the meeting was held to ensure coordination among all the adjoining district administrations of Coochbehar during the time of upcoming Elections. Further, strategies were briefed to all the district administrations of taking enough security arrangement to stop illegal passage of liquor, weapons, or any other non-permissible items through the district. He also said that a plan of installing naka checking in the borders of the district is also made in the meeting.
