FIRE CRACKER MARKET AT SEVOK ROAD AND HIGH SECURITY ON SILIGURI’S DIWALI

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 20^th October, 2016: Today the MIC Tourism Mr. Gautam Deb called a meeting with various administrative personnel at Mainak Tourist Lodge. In the meeting, the participants present were SDO of Siliguri Mr. Harishankar Panikkar, the CEO of SJDA Smt. Dipa Priya P and others. Mr. Deb clarified after the meeting that main intention of the meeting is to stop any sort of untoward incident during the Diwali and Chat Puja days in Siliguri. He also said that the administration will be keeping a watch on the high decibel sound crackers. The security will be on high alert during the next festival days like that of Durga Puja. The traffic control will be extended to midnight during the festival period. From Police Commissionerate source it is learned that like that of the previous years too, the temporary firecracker market will be established at the Circus Maidan of Sevok Road. The dates will be from 25th October 2016. Another two temporary market will also be established under Siliguri Police Commissionerate in the SMP area of Siliguri Sub-Division. The construction of the temporary firecracker stalls is being made in the respective places.
