MATIGARA’S MAYADEVI CLUB TO CONTINUE ITS DURGA PUJA MAGIC THIS SEASON

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 03rd October, 2016: For the last 10 years Mayadevi Club of Matigara has become one of the big budget puja clubs of Siliguri. Though its location is 5 kms away from Siliguri Main city yet the glamour and fan following are not less than the elite Puja committees of Siliguri. The pandal is just adjacent to the NH -31 now AH-48 is spending a whopping Rs. 25 lakhs in its Durga puja grandeur. TNI spoke to Mr. Abhijit Sen, the Assistant Secretary of Mayadevi Club Durga Puja committee this year. According to Mr. Sen, this time, the puja Pandal is made in a replication to the Iskcon Temple of Kanpur. The Iskcon is known to be the second largest Iskcon temple of the world. He also clarified that though the budget is on the higher side but the puja committee always relies on local artisans, craftsman and also the clay artist for making the pandal and the idol respectively. This can be contributed to the areas craftsmanship because Matigara is famous for its artistic pottery and craftsmanship Worldwide.

The Durga Idol is being made at Rangapani near Phansidewa. Another thing which the Mr. Bose added is the free Wi-Fi zone which is in tandem with various clubs of Siliguri. The puja is going to be inaugurated on 6th of October by none other than the tourism minister Mr. Gautam Deb. He is also scheduled to hand over gifts and clothes to the poor people of Matigara. Digital lights and grand fountains are going to make the Durga Puja evenings a must watch for the pandal hoppers of North Bengal (Not only Siliguri and Bagdogra). The club officials are expecting a huge gathering of pandal hoppers every day starting from Panchami to even Dashami. As far as the security is concerned the CCTV camera, police post and also private security is going to provide security during the puja season.
