TEA WORKERS INJURED IN THUNDERSTRUCK AT BAGRAKOT, MALBAZAR

Webdesk, TNI Malbazar, 16th September, 2016: At least 5 women were today injured by thunderstruck at Bagrakot Tea Garden today. Today at Bagrakot Tea Garden’s 19th Section 60 women tea workers were plucking tea leaves when a thunderstruck them. Instantly, 5 women tea worker fell to the ground with pain. They are Lakki Baraik, Manti Nayek, Rakhi Oraon, Parbati Baraik and Bini Nayek. Laurence Kerketta told TNI that they have observed smoke from the Lakkhi Baraik’s body and several places of her body was burnt and she is in severe condition. All of the workers were admitted to Malbazar Sub-Divisional Hospital. The Garden management have assured of providing help. Immediately, after the incident, the tea plucking was stopped in the tea garden.
