SUDDEN SHOWERS AFFECTING LIFE IN SILIGURI AND JALPAIGURI

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri & Jalpaiguri, 30^th August, 2016: Heavy rains lashed Siliguri and Jalpaiguri today making the work life in a sudden halt. The rain started in the wee hours in the evening. The whole day was a bit cloudy but Sun was burning keeping the temperature in the upward scale of the thermometer. However, in the evening it started to become cloudy and the rains came heavily making the office goers, shoppers as well as the shopkeepers stand still. In Siliguri, Sevok road was highly affected with water lodging.

Shopping malls became flooded and water entered even the posh luxury shops and establishments. In Jalpaiguri too it was no exception. People rushed to their house and shelters when the dark cloud came down heavily. According to the Indian Meteorological Department tomorrow i.e. 31 August 2016 is also going to see Heavy to moderate rain through with a prediction of around 15.5 to 64.4 mm rainfall.
