TWO SCHOOL STUDENTS INJURED IN SCHOOL VAN ACCIDENT AT RAIGANJ

Webdesk, TNI Raiganj, 1st August, 2016: At least 19 school students were injured today morning at Raiganj after a private school van overturned. Among them at least 2 seriously injured students were sent to Raiganj District Hospital. The place where the accident occurred on Raiganj-Balurghat State highway is under Hemtabad police station. The seriously injured student is known to be Tithi Kundu (12) and Subho Kundu (14). The school van was coming from Kaliagunj and was going towards Raiganj, where the school is located. When the van approached Tingaon More on the state highway it overturned.
The reason for losing control of the vehicle is yet to be known. The locals rescued the injured students and sent them to Kaliaganj State general hospital. Later the seriously students were transferred to Raiganj. The vehicle is of Ashok Leyland make and the model is Dost Passenger of the company. However, a redesigning of the vehicle is made locally. Questions are raised about the unscientific structuring of the vehicle for accommodating more passengers. The driver of the van is absconding. The police have seized the vehicle started their investigation.
