KALAPANI FACE HARDSHIP FOR LACK OF BRIDGES OVER DOOARS RIVERS

Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 29th July, 2016: Everyday during this rainy season the residents of Bandapani and Kalapani villages have to face huge hardship especially during crossing the Reti river. This is due to the absence of any permanent bridge over the river. The nearest feeder town is Banarhat to these frontier villages. Henceforth, they have to keep in touch with it on a regular basis for the quest of work, food and other supplies. It is not only Reti River which becomes a headache for the villagers the other rivers like Sukuti, Thanaboti, Kaali etc. remains dry throughout the year but comes in full flow once the rain starts in the hills and adjoining Bhutan. The residents are still with hope that someday there might be their most waited bridges over the rivers that might provide relief to them.
