Webdesk, TNI Banarhat 25th July, 2016:Though the water is receding in the tea gardens of Dooars yet thick layers of mud has accumulated on the leaves of the tea bushes. Henceforth, the tea gardens are going to face a huge amount of loss this season. On Sunday, there was an alert issued by Banarhat 1 No Panchayat that there would be heavy rains and the water level may rise. The people thus feared a similar disaster like yesterday. However, the fears turned futile and there were no such flash floods in the area. Here in Banarhat there were some areas like Shantipara, which were submerged and the water did not recede. People staged an agitation in protest of the non-functional drainage system. The panchayat pradhan Mr. Dhan Bahadur Chettri assured a speedy solving of the problem and then the agitation was taken off.
