TEA GARDEN WASHED AWAY IN LEASH RIVER FLOOD AT MALBAZAR

Webdesk, TNI Malbazar 24th July, 2016: Lesh River today washed away a portion of Lesh Tea Garden at Malbazar. This is due to the incessant rains both in Plains and the Hills. It is to be noted that earlier on Saturday the embankment of Lesh River was broken due to the heavy rush of water resulting in the seepage of water in the tea garden. Today an entire area of 2 hectares of the garden including the tea bushes and shade trees were washed away by the river. The tea workers told TNI that their houses are just 50 ft away from the river erosion. They are in a terrorized condition because if the water level rises then their houses will be affected. The tea workers thus have started on their own to rebuild the embankment. The tea garden also is helping the tea workers in the process by providing rollers and other equipment. However, the tea workers are enraged because no Government help is being provided for them till the report publication.
