SILIGURI EXPERIENCING FLOOD LIKE CONDITION DUE TO HEAVY RAIN

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 24th July, 2016: A huge amount of damage is being estimated due to the ongoing sudden rain rise in Siliguri and the adjoining areas. The overflowed water not only is staying in the roads but have entered the homes of dwellers especially residing in the outskirts of the city. Flood water have entered the business establishments, storages etc. The SJDA chairman Mr. Sourav Chakraborty took stock of the situation by interacting with the local residents. Met office today officially declared that at least 337 mm of rainfall is recorded in the last 24 hours which is a record. Low areas like Laketown, Central Colony, Noukaghat, Jyotinagar, Shantinagar, Shaktigarh, Pati colony are highly affected because of their proximity towards the river areas. Other areas like Hatiadanga, Thakurnagar, Krishna pally etc. are also experiencing huge flood like situation. Sources said that the MIC tourism will visit the water affected areas of Siliguri tomorrow.
