BANARHAT GOES UNDER WATER IN NORTH BENGAL FLOODS

Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 24th July, 2016: At least 3 houses of Banarhat and 4 houses of Binnaguri was washed away by the flood waters, that entered due to the collapse of Hatinala Dam. The UBI Road of Banarhat is also currently under water. This resulted in the submerging of Chamurchi More, Shantipara, Hospital Para, Banarhat TE, Police Station, Post Office, Telephone Exchange, Panchayat office, Forest Office and other important installations are under water. The patients could not be reached to the hospital. All the tea bushes of Banarhat TE, Gendrapara TE, Lakkhipara TE are under water. Estimated hundreds of household are under water. One of the residents of the area told TNI that such kind of flood did not happen in the last 50 years. Water entered in the hospital also. Later the patients were rescued. The BDO of Dhupguri Mr. Subhankar Roy told TNI “All efforts are taken to help the affected people from the administration’s side. Rescue shelters are built, food is distributed to the people. Measures are taken to restore the blocked communication”.
