BANARHAT FLOOD: BLOCK ADMINISTRATION UP IN ARMS FOR PROVIDING RELIEF

Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 24th July, 2016: Due to heavy rains overnight in Bhutan Hills, the plain areas of Dooars like Banarhat, Nagrakata, Binnaguri etc. were submerged. Due to continuous incessant rains for the last two days, the situation worsened today because rains showed no respite. The Umesh Khal of Banarhat overflowed and the water entered in the adjoining areas like Banarhat Bazar, Shantipara, Subhashnagar and nearest tea gardens. The police, NDRF, SDRF are jointly carrying out rescue works in the areas. The BDO of Dhupguri Mr. Subhankar Roy, Jalpaiguri MP Mr. Bijay Chandra Barman, District president of TMC Mr. Sourav Chakraborty reached the spot to take stock of the situation. The Block administration has arranged a makeshift rescue camp at Banarhat High School. The administration is also helping the Flood affected people by organizing community kitchens and also delivering dry food to the people.
