In an interaction with the press, Mr. Surya Tapaliya of Nepal Tourism Board said “The main objective of this promotion tie up between the three organizations is to promote eastern Nepal tourism in various parts of this region. Special emphasis is given to the North East India. Secondly, another objective is to clear the doubt in the minds of the people about the after effects of the last year’s earthquake in Nepal. According to him, Pokhara stayed very safe during the earthquake and remained undamaged. Thirdly the objective is to build a strong relationship with EHTTOA and the professional tourism organization of Siliguri”. An MOU was also signed on this occasion between the organizations. Mr. Samrat Sanyal, the executive president of EHTTOA said “The MOU signed between the organizations is a promotional MOU for jointly promoting the tourism destinations across the border. This is a joint destination promotion effort. We are in a process of making the tourism destinations in Nepal, Bhutan and North Bengal as a single destination market for the global operators. If at all there is a de-growth in Nepal tourism then its after effects are also felt in this part of the state. The International tourist takes Nepal and Bhutan for a single tour. We are trying to promote Dooars as well as entire North Bengal in that target group”.
